Good afternoon, to anyone who hasn't given up on me... it's been a looooong time no blog!

And the reason for my revival? I have more time on my hands :)

Miss Jessica is rocking School - Year Two now (can you believe it)... my little Aspie is diong so well it's not funny - so proud of her!

Master Thomas - always rocked!!! he's in Year Five (OH MY GOODNESS!!!) and having a great time.

My babies both now have motocross bikes, and both love them to bits. Just when I thought Jess would hate the whole thing; noise, dust etc she blew me away - Tom got off his bike for a while & on Jess hopped; she's never looked back. Such a natural.

Last time we were out, poor Tom had a huge stack, an older man (not watching) t-boned Tom...not a pretty sight...Tom had a tyre mark from knee to shoulder, horrendous!!! But, he got up, dusted himself off and started all over again. Little big legend!!!

Hmmm, Jas'... got the promotion at work, he is now "it" Works Supervisor Sydney South, which covers Wollongong up to Newcastle - HUGE area, he's rarely home, money is lovely...poor Jas is suffering from a big dose of stress & sleep deprivation :( he mostly loves it though.

Me, well, I started a new job on Friday last week. After 8 years of home duties, I dragged my tired butt out of bed at 5.30am, got myself organised, handed the kids of to my legend Mum & walked out the door for a 6.30am start *eye opener* at the uniform shop/factory that we use at School... When I started kast week, I really had not much of an idea what I'd be doing but I'm unpacking orders, some quality control (unpicker and all...very brave of them) I absolutely loooved my first day, can't wait to go back this week actually lol

I am off to sunny, warm BRISVEGAS with the gorgeous Kirst De Forest (love her!) We're flying out early hours of Saturday morning (lucky I *do* early mornings these days) for Scrapbook & Papercraft Expo, I think we've booked like 7 classes each. We're hoping to catch up. Re-word that WE'RE CATCHING UP WITH JOYCE, can't wait to see her & that gorgeous belly that I've been watching grow :) and then sadly we're going home late Monday night...can't think of a better way to spend a long weekend I have to say :)

I made a skirt! and it looks like a skirt :) I don't think Jess will go much on the fabric but it looks okay to me LOL sooooo, I have found an eBay shop that I am in love with and a pattern that I am pretty sure I can do!!!

all the pretty fabrics...

i caught up today with my gorgeous kirst today, coffee, yummy danish and (are you sitting down?) fabric shopping...yes fabric!

i am going to learn to sew - i am determined to, i am seriously inspired to - can't wait!

i bought some pretties for jessica's room, some funky skulls for thomas' room and a little something to make some bits and pieces for my room... you'll just have to wait and see.

kirst - i'm going to ROCK the sewing, you watch me! get up & stop laughing at me, i'm serious :P

today is a very BLAH day...miserable, rainy, cold and just plain BLAH

when i woke up ahem at 10.42am i knew it was going to be one of those days. i wanted to scrap - couldn't get my mojo moving :( tried sitting flicking through scrap mags - got bored WTF?! so did my general blog hopping and gave in - pure BLAH boredom had set in well and truly so i went and picked jess up from grandma's (she had a sleep over last night), i went with her & my sil to spotlight for some fabric to play with, i'm going to start simple with a cushion for jessica's room (wish me luck)...all of a sudden i am all inspired by the fabric at spotlight - believe me - this is a shock to my system - i don't sew - i can't sew - i failed sewing at school because i sewed my uniform (out of boredom!)

AMAZING - inspired by fabric! i've been ebay browsing some beautiful fabrics...on the prowl for a nice chocolate/fawn/beigey damask for cushions for the lounges now too...

OMG what's going on?!

when did things get so busy, i used to have a quiet life...i used to go for coffee and relax - not anymore :( coffee is booked in advance - that's crap!

school holidays start next friday and honestly, i am dreading it

jessica starts swimming lessons next saturday (was supposed to be this saturday - that's a whole other story)

jason had his first day off in 28 days yesterday - and spent it concreting at a friends house

thomas finally learnt that when mummy says she's not doing his project for him she means it

what else...

i am in the middle of creating classes and kits for oct - dec for tracie

i bought a new dishwasher and microwave, stainless, i think we've decided on colours for the new kitchen - i think *sigh* jason keeps changing his mind...here's hoping this is the last time so we can get on with it!

all i want is 5 minutes to myself... that's not too much to ask is it...

OH and someone told me christmas is like 90 days away - NO WAY!!!

Two years ago, the gorgeous, bubbly and very funny Miss Tara walked through the gates at our School with her three gorgeous children. This morning she walked through them for the last time. I've said it a few times over the last two years - everyone needs a friend like Tara, she's taken Jessica for me on afternoons that I couldn't, she's left Matthew with me on days that Jessica needs to be amused - Matthew has Jess down pat, tells her to stop being silly (and she does LOL)...Jake has been a great friend for Thomas even though Thomas is a touch older. They play handball together at school, and soccer...

We're throwing a little surprise party for Matthew this afternoon in the Kindy classroom, I couldn't let him leave without one.

Thank goodness they're only moving a few hours away, and hopefully we will be able to visit...

Jess had more bloods done yesterday, poor little poppet. 7 vials, I stood her up to take her to the toilet and she passed out on me - I think she's maybe had enough poking and prodding for a while.

We've booked into The Sensory Gym for some therapy sessions, so that should be great for her.

But for now, I need a change of subject - so tell me, what's new? What are you creating right now?

the very proud Mummy of Mr Thomas!

I got in trouble on Friday while having my coffee/therapy session with Kelly, she pointed out (and is 200% right) that I am always telling everyone about Jess & what Jess is up to, even on my FB page I have that I am "Mummy to Jessica..."

I am super proud of Mr Thomas and it's not that I don't have anything to say about him, its more that he's very self sufficient and he doesn't need his Mummy so much (so *he* says :() he's easy peasy to get along with, easy going and all of the good stuff that you want from a gorgeous eight year old boy...sure he packs attitude, throws a wobbly here and there but I know adults that do that LOL

Poor little Jess was poked, prodded, stuck with needles and asked a thousand and one questions today by Dr's... I knew it was official already but seems so much more real when it's the Peadiatrician telling you that your baby has an Autism Spectrum Disorder, and that it will be life long, and therapy should start as soon as possible. Now we have to decide what therapies? I have no idea...I have booked her into the Psychologist to see what she thinks, we have an appointment at the Sensory Gym for Occupational Therapy (big word for a 6 year old), speech therapists, behavioural therapists - the list goes on and on and on...must contact Aspect too (mental note to self lol)

Sooooo, if you're reading this and you have any advice at all to give me, PLEASE DO!!! Same, if you're a teacher and have tricks to help me get her to learn her sight words - she refuses and is understandably so far behind.

Oh and strangely it's true what "they" say, you do grieve, for your child who will probably never have a memorable, fun filled childhood, for your baby girl who has literally no idea what the hell is going on...for my poor Jess who is beyond naughty and has no memory of it what so ever *sigh* I just truly hope that it will get easier for her (and her Mummy) soon and that this year finishes fast so we don't have to worry about Madam Evil anymore!

Thank you to all of my fabulous friends who are ridiculously supportive, the last few months would have been impossible without you a big *mwah* to you all.

LOTS of appointments...

Miss Jessica has the start of lots of appointments tomorrow, first to the Peadiatrician to see what he makes of all the documents from the Psychologists (yes more than one *sigh*) and to see what therapies he suggests. Then to the Psychologist to see where she thinks we should start.

She really is struggling with School work at the moment, I am not at all surprised though - she's had a pretty crappy year my poor Princess.

Onwards and upwards I guess...no point dwelling, it can't be "fixed"

Jason is working for Fathers Day, so we decided to do something this weekend instead. We took the kids to Featherdale - they LOOOOVE it there... Jess was really good, she only freaked out twice (once at an over zealous Cockatoo and the other at an Emu that charged at her). Here are some of my favourite photos from this morning, enjoy!

Firstly,
I am very excited for my good friends Lara & Chris (and the boys of course) who moved in to their beautiful new house yesterday - it's huge & shiny & just plain gorgeous! I'm just a touch jealous *sigh* (and sore...my shoulder are killing me from cleaning and lifting)

Secondly,
I had a kitchen guy come out this week and quote me to replace my benchtops with granite & replace my cupboard doors and the most exciting part - fit me a PANTRY!!! Yes, I have gone 10 years with no pantry...I know! Subject to finance - I AM GETTING A NEW KITCHEN yaaaaaay!!!

I am on a bit of a high today LOL...

I'm going to go play with the Kaisercraft Book Stand & Recipe Book kits that I bought last night...back later!

autism and school

My princess Jessica (6 and in Kindergarten), for those who don't know, was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome (with a side of PDD-NOS) in March this year. It has quite literally taken me this long to get my head around everything and all the information. Two school terms of complaints from parents, teachers and kids...all to bite me on the butt. There is a "trigger" in her class who was removed last term. This "trigger" was placed back in her class this term because her parents thought that Jessica's teacher was the best teacher for their Daughter...And so the fun begins...AGAIN! This term, Jess was allocated a teachers aide for 2 hours a day, 3 days a week - which in the general scheme of things was great - especially when you consider a school day is 4.75 hours long by the time you take out kunch and recess... This week, God love her, Jess' helper rewarded the "trigger" with a sticker...well, all hell broke loose!!! Jess told her helper that she hated her and not to come back :( I was gutted - this teachers aide was flippin fantastic Jess loved (still does love) her. Jess told me this afternoon that she's not coming back :( I could cry!

So, I came home today & I've signed up for a two day "positive partnerships autism workshop"...some good *has* to come out of this...until we get another teacher as good as the one we had *sigh*

I think I am now in that place where the original information overload is actually starting to sink in...maybe??? maybe i just need sleep??? we'll see!

Well, that's what this one is anyway...

Running late for School AGAIN this morning! Got there and Jess had to be physically peeled off me *sigh* hasn't done that in a while.

I've got lots of notes, kits and general "stuff" to make up for Tracie this week.

For those that don't know, I've nabbed the job of the century with The Paper Factory, taking care of all things online and everything to do with her scrapbooking classes and calendars! I'm teaching three classes a week also which is awesome. How many people get paid for what they adore? Oh the best part, I forgot to mention...I can do it all (apart from the classes) in the privacy of my own home IN MY JAMMIES woo hoo! That bit ROCKS!

Okay, back to work...OMG midday already - when did that happen?

Poor Miss Jess has been very worried about why Mummy has a Mummy but Daddy deosn't. So this morning we explained to her that Nanny passed away before she was born and that she is at the cemetry. Well, we thought that would be the end of that...evidently NOT! I should have known that the explanation wouldn't have been enough...Poor Jason didn't know where to hide, so we took her. Off to PineGrove we went, we showed her where Nanny was, where Jason's Pop was and where Jason's Grandmother was. If I knew where mine were I'd have shown her them too - she was fascinated.

They were so well behaved that after we ran our little errands we went to Macca's for lunch and for a play. Came home, and off we were again. Uncle James rang - they were at the park and Caelyn wanted Jess...I've just got back - the kids are with James...

What a day! Awesome! Sun shining (and VERY hot) birds singing...Jasons gardening and I'm being extremely lazy!!!

Gotta go pick the midgets up soon - dinner at Mum's
